Dillon, Montana
Rosser Leroy Jenkins passed away on October 1, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, from complications of dementia. He was born July 20, 1951, in Hamilton, Montana, to Billy Gee and Ella Maxine (Bowman) Jenkins. He was the fourth of five children.
Ross grew up in Evaro and Missoula and graduated from Hellgate High School. As a young adult, he earned his boiler’s license and went to work for Western Montana Clinic, where he met his first wife, Debra. In 1980, they welcomed their daughter, Nicole Lynn. They later divorced.
On September 12, 1992, Ross married the love of his life, Jackie. Together they shared 28 years of adventures, including sheepherding, fishing, camping, dancing, and spending time with family. They were inseparable until Jackie passed away on November 7, 2020.
My dad was a county boy through and through. He was happiest sitting on the bank of a creek with a fishing pole in his hand or up on a hill somewhere tending sheep. He loved the outdoors, and time spent with Dad was always an adventure.
I would like to thank my nephew Levi, his significant other Shelby, and their family for taking Grandpa on his last camping and fishing trip and for always being there for him. It means the world to us both.
Thank you, Dad, for waiting for me to be there with you before you left this world to head out on your greatest adventure. Being with you as you slipped from this world to the next was one of the hardest but most precious moments of my life. I will love you and miss you forever.
I would also like to thank Pioneer Care and Honey Bee Hospice for taking care of him through this difficult time and for helping me navigate our journey with dementia.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jackie, son-in-law Jeremy Lugibihl, brothers William “Billy Frank” Jenkins and David “Butch” Jenkins, and sister Judy Turk.
He is survived by his sister, Pete (Mel) Tackitt; daughter Nicole (Ken) Garrett and their children, Katelynn, Kole, Madisyn and Makenna, stepson Chad (Heather) McQuiston and their children, Cameron and Damion McQuiston; stepson Tracy Marx and his family; grandsons Levi (Shelby) McQuiston and Cody (Serenity) McQuiston; and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
At his request, there will be no services. His ashes will be spread with Jackie at a location they chose together.
